Learning Irish is dangerous

buntasCionaodh, who pops in here occasionally, posted this elsewhere. I hope he doesn’t mind me stealing it.
Yer man with the handgun is reading Buntús Cainte and doesn’t look to be coping so well with it.
Irish isn’t that tough, is it?

  1. No offence mate, but if it were me, I’d use the gun on the book. And if it was Peig ****in Sayers…whoa don’t start me.

It’s more a classroom trauma thing rather than a anti-Gaeltacht thing.

  2. Mind? I “borrowed” it myself. ;-)

It’s priceless, though I can think of a few other textbooks more deserving of execution than poor oul’ Buntús Cainte with its wee clever 1969ish cartoons.

I think that so long as we give a shout to http://www.antaibhdhearc.com/ as we pass it about, they won’t mind . . . it’ll help send visitors their way.

If you haven’t been to their site, have a look — it seems that yon photo may have something to do with their current production.

    Le meas,
    Cionaodh

PS – Buntús Cainte has been re-released with audio CDs recently.

  3. I can think of a grammar book or two which i’d like to execute :)

I had a look around their site alright. It seems the picture is taken from a play called Coinneáil Orainn by Ó Scolaí. Sounds interesting.
