The Allies have had a bad 4 days in Iraq during which approximatly 200 Iraqis were killed as well as many Allied soldiers killed and quite a number injured. Yesterday alone 12 marines were killed, quite a loss in a single day, for the Allies. The Allies are on operation “Vigilant Resolve” which today involved firing missiles into a mosque.
It may seem like a small point to take from a larger story but I have to question the morality of bombing a mosque. Yes there were rebels inside but if this was a catholic country (for example) would they be as quick to blow up a church? Worrying either way!
Sancity of the church

Goodness, what a wile load of postings today. Quite day on the job?
I happened on your blog a few months ago while searching for some Irish language site. I appreciate your musings!
"Yes there were rebels inside but if this was a catholic country … would they be as quick to blow up a church?"
The US is mainly a Christian country, but not a Catholic one. I think there would be little concern by many non-Catholic Christian USians if a Catholic Church were attacked in this way. But on the other hand, as one US officer said:
(What a mixture of Irish last names!)

I guess all we can hope for is that these events are transitory and Iraq can become a free nation, unshackled by fear.
You guessed it Mick, quiet day at work!
You must be one of the very few visitors to the site. I was going to shut down the blog but decided to at least give it a last for a while, hence the flood of postings.
It’s a mess though, too many topics, needs to be trimmed.
Saying Catholic was just an example of course but I honestly wondered would any christian church be safe?
It’s an interesting dilema…respect the church and all it stands for or blow it to kingdon come! I wouldn’t like to be the guy picking the targets.
