My head is wrecked trying to think of a new cool and interesting domain name. If I sell the current one (looks likely) i’ll have to find a new virtual home but am hopeless at thinking of cool names. I thought “poncdotpiste” might be one option (“dot” in Irish, English & Finnish). Or maybe I could just go for “Raiméis” or “Seafóid”, though i’d prefer Raiméis as just the blog name not the domain name as the domain will contain more than just the blog. Maybe “hopelesslyunimaginativecunt.com” might be appropriate.
By the way if you decide to register one of these names in the hope of selling it to me at a profit i’ll ask Twenty to declare you a cunt, and once you have been marked as such by Twenty that’s it, life will no longer be worth living.
Anyway, any clever ideas? How did you chose your blog/domain name?

“How did you chose your blog/domain name?”
The Dreaming Armadillo was chosen at random as a wacky surreal name for the blog with no obvious connection with the subject matter. I also figured it would be a unique name to appear on a search engine in that there can’t be too many other dreaming armadillos in cyberspace.
I couldn’t use it for the domain name though, as it was already in use apparently, so instead I used the name of the road I live on – with metaphorical overtones alluding the long journey we all take on the road of life…
Anyway, good luck in selecting your new name!

He bought the lochlainn.com domain because he wanted some web space and a permanent email address. Lochlainn’s the name of our oldest dog (now he’s 15!).
For our Conradh branch, he acquired gaeilge.org and learnirish.org, both for obvious reasons.
I like some of your ideas, though. I have no cute ones of my own…

I was wondering where lochlainn came from as I knew it wasn’t a surname.
I was working on an Irish site before but gave up, I might revive it in future. What do you think of Dianchúrsa (crash course) as a name?
Have you tried going down the “maca” route? You could get one of those fancy .eu ones if you wanted.

I considered it Gerry but decided against it. “maca” has no long term future. How about “sacre-bl.eu” ..?

i wont be much help with the irish names, but here’s a couple of suggestions: if you happened to be into women’s underwear, you might also consider http://www.linger.ie ..? or for the free-thinking mind size of a whale, how about http://www.freewill.ie ? oh dear. you take that and i’ll take http://www.littlehouseontheprair.ie.

How about “big-didd.ie”, “we-like-dick.ie” (as in Dickie Rock, you know him?). This could get dirty now…
‘Gwenu dan Fysiau’ (Smiling under Buses) is a track by my favourite band Datblygu. (It’s on the Wyau album and is actually called ‘Gwenu dan Bysiau’)
Sadly, because of the way that Welsh language music was portrayed in the late 80′s/ early 90′s I didn’t even know about them untill 4 years after they split
Although their song’s are now played on Radio Cymru, they were unofficially censored when the band were in their prime. Many Welsh speakers only came across them as John Peel was such a huge fan and gave them loads of sessions.

Most people in Wales haven’t heard of Datblygu, including the majority of Welsh speakers which is a shame.
There are MP3′s here from the band’s first 3 cassettes. I haven’t heard these before as I have dial-up + speaker at home, and broadband but no speakers at work

The good news is that Nic is working on a site called http://www.datblygu.com which hopefully will have loads of MP3′s by the band. When the site’s completed I’ll be bleating on about it on Gwenu dan Fysiau and Smiling under Busues
For only a £11 (+£1 outside UK posting) I’d highly recommend Radio Crymi Playlist Vol 1 for a taster of alternative Welsh popular music, which includes 4 or 5 Datblygu tracks (out of 40)
All I do is copy & paste Rhys … I can’t even pronounce it
