About Northern Gaels HC
Northern Gaels (formerly Lahti Gaels) was formed in the summer of 2001
by a misguided Irishman attempting to introduce a new sport to Finland.
The club is currently based around the Lahti - Hyvinkää area with ambitions
of spreading to more cities in Finland.
The club is always seeking new members and
membership is open to all, male or female of any
nationality or religion.
Training normally takes place in Hyvinkää on sunday afternoons but the
club is hoping to start regular training soon in Lahti.
Where are we?
The city of Lahti (Lahtis in Swedish) is located
100km north of the Finnish capital, Helsinki. It is
approximatly 1.5 hours driving time from Helisnki to
Lahti City. From Helsinki-Vantaa Airport it is just a
1 hour journey.
The small town of Hyvinkää is located about 45 minutes south
of Lahti and provides a suitable traning area.
Helsinki, Lahti and some of the other majour cities
in southern Finland can be seen in the map below.
