05/02/2004: "Good clean protest"

Protestors in Dublin got a good cleaning last night as Gardaí turned water cannons on the anti-globalisation protesters who attempted to break through a security cordon near the Phoenix Park. 29 people were arrested on public order offences.
Overall the Gardaí seemed to do a good job this weekend, they had lots of personnel available and the water cannons, borrowed from their Northern colleagues, are bound to have helped.
