Now that Claire Byrne is leaving, the TV3 news is going from mildly annoying get from bad to downright awful. Because the rest of the presenters are so wooden that they hardly have a pulse. They all have American/English accents. They are trying very hard to be yuppies. They would be better off acting natural.
Problem for TV3 is the news is about the only thing worth watching. After the news everything else is a load of Anglo-American Rubbish.
TV3 are TV Tripe or TV trash more like it. No wonder RTE are still in business.

Isn’t that funny I too was shouting at TV3 and the Bertiegate story. I also somehow managed to watch that eegit Ursula Halligan before hand, I think the remote was missing and sunday afternoon laziness took over… It was kind of fun coming up with new insults at first but it’s wearing thin now! I join you in you’re antipathy against shite news coverage!

One thing that used to annoy the shit out of me was how TV3 always managed to put a bad spin on any news. For example, a while back the IDA announced 500 or so new jobs for a town somewhere in the midlands (can’t remember exactly where.)

TV3′s take on this?

“House prices set to soar for first-time buyers in [wherever it was], and traffic congestion to increase, as IDA announce 500 new jobs for the town.”

Then there’s the “IT’S! OFFICIAL!” stories.

“IT’S! OFFICIAL! Ireland is the WORST country for [random bad thing] in the European Union, according to a report published today.”

Brain-melting shite, all of it.

I’ve only been back in Ireland a few months which I why I just realised now that TV3 is so bad. I only have the Irish channels at the moment, wouldn’t mind getting BBC World tho., i’ve watched that for the past few years, it’s decent enough.

Not one to rant, but there is a problem in general with News in Media today. News programs are compelled with the idea to entertain rather than educate and they seem to think thats fine because a vast majority of people are happy to be spoon fed crap while gulping down take away food for dinner.

I gave up on TV3 along time ago, its slum TV.

Likewise SkyNews, could there be a worse news TV station outside the US mainstream?

The last time I watched Sky was during the world cup, when on the morning of an England v Portugal game they had a reporter in Nuremburg, he began by introducing a park where he said “This is where Hitler addressed 500,000 people at a rally in 1936″, the news anchor carried on this theme by caliming Portugal had always been an ally of Britain and supported them in the war in Iraq…….. All in the course of an introduction to a bloddy soccer match…

ah well there was the game they had started to discuss that morning, that didn’t end in such a sporting manner chaps… did it!
