"These weren’t ordinary unionists, many of these people were just filth."
Quite. I think it cant be said often enough that due to his assocation with paramiltaries, Willie Frazer was refused a personal protection weapon. This guy is totally inapprorpiate as a victinms representative.

Besides which how exactly does Orange parades in Dublin complete with paramiltary presence, show respect for dead Protestants, let alone those killed by Protestant paramilitaries/British forces in Dublin city itself?

I don't know Kevin, IMO they came to Dublin to cause trouble and RSF were stoopid enough to hand them a result.

Paul, not sure I agree. These weren't ordinary unionists, many of these people were just filth. I'd have no problem with ordinary unionists organising a proper march in the city, and i'd be hopeful such a parade could pass off without the sort of trouble we saw on Saturday. But i'm just an optimist.

I think criticisms of Love Ulster concerning today is tenuous. They called the march off, and were nowhere to be seen all day.

They were standing around waiting for the 'off' on Parnell Square North for more than an hour, before the violence below forced the march to be cancelled, and they were instead (I believe at least some were) bussed directly to the outside of the Dáil. Responsibility for the violence lies with the RSF, the anarchists and other scum

A rather different question is whether the Love Ulster shower are the white lambs they're being portrayed to be. There were all those Loyalist marching bands, after all...

Ireland has evolved quite a bit in recent years but it seems evolution has bypassed a rather nasty minority...

I should also make myself take some grammar and spelling lessons, I cna't believe how many mistakes I made there!

I'm sure you caught my drift though!

It's hard not to be sanctimonious about this.
The truth is that any Unionist presence in the capitral with or without mad Willie's mob march would have faced this kind of response. This was the raw unbelly of Republican sectarianism exposed probably for the first time in Dublin. It should make all Southern Nationalist think if this Unity is worth exposing yourselves to all this kind of shit.

I think criticisms of Love Ulster concerning today is tenuous. They called the march off, and were nowhere to be seen all day. The scumbags I saw were actually searching, in witch-hunt-esque fashion, for any Unionists. They couldn't find them.
